Sometimes these take a very long effort, that is -months to make, other times they happen very quickly. Either can make a good painting but sometimes the effort can seem a bit much or if its a bit too easy -sometimes untrustworthy until there has been longer inspection. My friend Robert Aull used to call it Diebenkorning when every detail needed to be changed over and over and “General Patton crosses the Rhine” when it goes easy. Which ones went easy in this group?
